PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Version 2.0 — Effective 26 March 2026
mDoch Pty Ltd (ABN 17 105 650 502) (“we”, “us”, “our”). Applies to: bawtt.com, the Bawtt App, and browser extension (together, “Bawtt”).
The Short Version (Because You’re Busy)
- We collect some information so Bawtt works properly.
- We don’t sell your personal identity.
- We do use de-identified data to make the platform better (and yes, that may include commercial use).
- We follow Australian privacy law.
Now here’s the longer (but still readable) version.
Our Commitment to Privacy
We take your privacy seriously — not just because we have to, but because trust is the whole point of Bawtt.
We handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other applicable laws.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we actually do with it.
Key Definitions
- De-identified Data: Data that’s been stripped of identity so it can’t reasonably be traced back to you.
- Personal Information: Information that identifies you (or could reasonably identify you).
- Sensitive Information: Things like health, beliefs, or criminal history (we generally don’t want this).
What Bawtt Actually Does
Bawtt is a platform where real people share and verify real deals. To make that work, we need some data — not everything, just what’s necessary.
What We Collect (and Why)
We collect information that helps run Bawtt properly, including:
- Name, email, postcode
- Username and password
- Preferences (what you like, follow, save, track)
- Your activity (what you view, click, add, or interact with)
- Device and usage data (IP address, session activity, etc.)
How we collect it:
- When you sign up
- When you use Bawtt
- Through cookies and tracking tech
- Through the browser extension
If you don’t provide some of this — that’s fine — but parts of Bawtt may not work properly.
Why We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Run and improve Bawtt
- Show you relevant deals (not random junk)
- Communicate with you (account, updates, support)
- Analyse trends and behaviour
- Send marketing (you can opt out anytime)
- Meet legal obligations
De-Identified Data
We may aggregate and de-identify data and use it for:
- Analytics
- Product improvement
- Business insights
- Commercial partnerships
That data cannot reasonably identify you — and that’s a key legal requirement.
Marketing
We may send you deals, updates, and promotions.
You can opt out anytime via the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing privacy@bawtt.com.
We’ll still contact you if it’s about your account or something important.
Who We Share Data With
We share your username and the deals and cards you add with the world. We may share your personal information with trusted providers who help us run Bawtt, including:
- Hosting & infrastructure
- Analytics
- Development & support
- Advertising services
Some of these providers may be overseas (e.g. USA). We take reasonable steps to ensure they comply with Australian privacy standards.
Overseas Data
Your data is usually stored in Australia — but may be processed overseas where needed. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:
- Secure systems
- Encryption
- Access controls
- Ongoing security reviews
No system is perfect — but we actively work to reduce risk.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We only keep your data as long as needed for Bawtt or to meet legal obligations. Then we securely delete or de-identify it.
Access, Corrections & Complaints
You can request access to your data, ask us to correct it, or make a complaint.
Email: privacy@bawtt.com
We aim to resolve issues within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the OAIC (oaic.gov.au).
Data Breaches
If something goes wrong and your data is at risk of serious harm, we will notify you and notify the OAIC as required under law.
Cookies
We use cookies to improve performance, understand usage, and personalise your experience. You can disable them — but parts of Bawtt may break.
Third-Party Links
If you click out to another site, their privacy rules apply — not ours. We recommend checking their policies.
Anonymous Use
Where possible, you can interact anonymously or via a pseudonym. But some features require real information.
Legal Exceptions
Sometimes we must use or disclose data to comply with the law, assist regulators, or protect rights or safety.
Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll publish the new version on Bawtt.
